The well-known team of \u2018Dr\u017eavni posao\u2019 (Government Job) probably doesn’t need a special introduction, because they\u2019ve been introducing themselves to us every day with now more than 1,700 recorded episodes of their comedy show. The legendary trio and the archive department workforce are \u0110or\u0111e \u010cvarkov<\/b> (Dimitrije Banjac), Dragan Torbica<\/b> (Nikola \u0160kori\u0107), and Bo\u0161ki\u0107<\/b> (Dejan \u0106irjakovi\u0107), and for 10 years they have been entertaining us with satirical exchanges straight from their office.
Now, as part of the Migrations programme, the European Capital of Culture will host the premiere of the play \u2018The Great Migration of Archivists\u2019, at the cultural and educational institution Cultural Centre \u2018Mladost\u2019 in Futog on 8 April at 8 p.m<\/b>., and we wholeheartedly recommend you see it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Hilariously entertaining and witty \u010cvarkov, Torbica, and Bo\u0161ki\u0107 will make you cry tears of laughter at the unfortunate situation they find themselves in. Due to the unexpected circumstances, they are removed from their natural environment, the office in which they work \u2018hard\u2019, to a fringe department – a warehouse in a small town on Fru\u0161ka Gora. Our heroes find themselves in a new unknown environment, in a storeroom where they are also forced to live, not suited for three people to stay in, while at the same time they cannot avoid their duties because they need to work if they want to get permission to return to the \u2018home office\u2019.
We grabbed a moment between their daily, intensive preparations for this play to talk briefly with the protagonists and find out how they experience the injustice that befell them and how they like to spend their time when not at work.
How do you view the migration processes in multicultural Novi Sad and its general surroundings, why do you think people leave this area, or come here to live?<\/strong>
\u010cvarkov:<\/strong> Let me tell you, personally I don\u2019t mind, but a lot of people moved in here\u2026
Torbica: Heh, we all came from somewhere…
Bo\u0161ki\u0107<\/strong>: That\u2019s true, but multiclutr\u2026 multiclutur\u2026 that multi… You know what I mean\u2026 That was always the best thing about Novi Sad\u2026
Torbica<\/strong>: And \u0160ipovo\u2026<\/p>


What are the strengths and weaknesses of the \u2018mixing\u2019 of cultures? How pronounced are these divisions in Vojvodina?<\/strong>
\u010cvarkov:<\/strong> No, there are no divisions\u2026 It’s nice to attend two Christmases, two Easters, two May the Firsts… Only\u2026 there is one of my neighbours\u2026 \u0160trbac\u2026 They have a \u2018gathering\u2019\u2026 And it gets very loud\u2026
Torbica<\/strong>: Now that\u2019s a real festivity, \u010cvarkov\u2026 And we\u2019ll do it again\u2026
Bo\u0161ki\u0107<\/strong>: Uncle \u0110or\u0111e is right, there are no divisions\u2026 I have travelled a lot, and I know what different cultures are\u2026 Here, in my building, we all get along very well\u2026 We are all old Novi Sad residents or the ones with money\u2026 Mostly, we all feel that way\u2026
We heard that you recently went through the migration process yourself because you were allegedly \u2018transferred\u2019 from the office where you worked for years to a storeroom on Fru\u0161ka Gora.<\/p>

How did that happen and how challenging is it for you to adapt to the new working conditions?<\/strong>
Bo\u0161ki\u0107<\/strong>: That’s right, we were forced to move to that \u2018\u0160uljam\u2019, because of some internal matters in our department\u2026 And I have to tell you, it was hard for me, but I see it as a challenge… Because, as my dad always says: \u2018When there\u2019s a will, there\u2019s a way\u2019.
Torbica<\/strong>: Come on, Bo\u0161ki\u0107, you cried for 5 days and you wouldn\u2019t let go of your mom’s photo\u2026 Let me tell you, after doing the rough plaster finish at the Munich Cathedral, I don\u2019t find anything too difficult.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

For the past 10 years, we have eagerly followed events at your work, mutual relations with colleagues, arguments, differences of opinion, as well as the adversities you faced. Do you like the popularity you have gained in the neighbourhood?<\/strong>
\u010cvarkov:<\/strong> I already gained popularity back in 1978 when I brought down 996 cones with the bowling club \u2019KK Senta\u2019 and became the champion of the Northern Ba\u010dka district, me and \u010caba\u2026
Torbica:<\/strong> I am a multiple winner of the Lika all-around… discipline hay pole\u2026

Mr \u010cvarkov, how different would your life in Vojvodina be if there were no newcomers? Would it be simpler and easier?<\/strong>
\u010cvarkov:<\/strong> That is a big question that even the smartest people in Vojvodina failed to answer\u2026 As one of my great friends, a professor at the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Novi Sad, would say\u2026 Be quiet, \u0110or\u0111e, who else would bend the rebar\u2026
Torbica:<\/strong> Or roll the pie.
What is the most valuable thing that your older colleagues have taught you?
Bo\u0161ki\u0107:<\/strong> They taught me work habits and how to immensely respect work discipline\u2026 In a word, they taught me the trade\u2026
What are the essential differences between the local mentality and the people from your homeland? What human trait, Mr. Torbica, throws you out of step?<\/strong>
They rarely socialise.
There\u2019s no communal fieldwork.
There\u2019s no village gathering.
No one can sing properly.
All their songs have music.
There\u2019s only one type of sheep.
Mud and dust everywhere.
