In the year of the European Capital of Culture<\/a><\/strong>, every day we encounter a variety of cultural events throughout Novi Sad and its surroundings, and this weekend is especially tempting for all fellow citizens and visitors to the city \u2013 several different types of art intertwine in just three days<\/strong>. If you did not know where to go during the sunny days ahead, we suggest you take the cultural route and visit as many events as possible: film premieres, concerts, exhibitions and a public walk dedicated to the famous women of Novi Sad<\/p>\n

A Neolithic Night\u2019s Dream in Novi Sad<\/h2>\n

Have you heard of MetaHuman technology? It is a realistic depiction of prehistoric man, who travelled the world, and after the Dubai Expo World Exhibition, the Museum of Vojvodina<\/strong> will host this prehistoric man from Lepenski Vir. The archeological exhibition A Neolithic Night\u2019s Dream<\/a><\/strong> by Lidija Balj, MA<\/strong>, and Andrej Starovi\u0107<\/strong>, brings to our country a large exhibition about the Neolithic<\/strong> after more than half a century. From 15 July to 15 October, we will be able to see this interesting exhibition, which represents the period of peace in the area of today, affected by unrest, Europe. Who were the first people to arrive in the Danube region and what was it like to meet the natives \u2013 these are some of the questions that this large exhibition will answer. The exhibition will be opened on 15 July<\/strong> at 8 p.m<\/strong>., and admission is free on the day of the opening.<\/p>\n

Following Women\u2019s Paths<\/h2>\n

Another review of history, this time closely related to Novi Sad and its famous female inhabitants, will be given by the IRIDA<\/strong> organization, which found an innovative and unusual way to introduce us to the city’s female past. The application for mobile phones<\/strong> called \u2018Following Women\u2019s Paths<\/em>\u2019 takes us on a walk through Novi Sad, along the locations where Milica Tomi\u0107<\/strong>, Mileva Mari\u0107<\/strong>, Savka Suboti\u0107<\/strong>, Marija Trandafil<\/strong>, Dafina Nato\u0161evi\u0107<\/strong>, Judita Horovic<\/strong>, Milica and Anka Ninkovi\u0107<\/strong>, Er\u017eika Mi\u010detakova<\/strong>, Jelica Belovi\u0107 Bernad\u017eikovska<\/strong> and other well-known fellow citizens lived and worked. The public walk<\/strong> starts in front of the Synagogue on 15 July at 7 p.m., and takes those gathered on a unique journey to get to know famous women from Novi Sad, as well as the city itself and stories we did not know.<\/p>\n

An Evening of Classical Music and Jazz<\/h2>\n

If you can not imagine a weekend without music \u2013 we suggest some of the concerts, all performed by supreme musicians, where you can find yourself between classical music and jazz. The International Philharmonic Orchestra For New Bridges<\/strong> gathers students from music academies from Trieste, Graz, Budapest, Sarajevo and Zagreb, who will perform a composition specially composed for Novi Sad as the European Capital of CulturE<\/em> in the Creative District<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. Accompanied by pianist Jasminja Stan\u010dul<\/strong> and conducted by Andrej Bursa\u0107<\/strong>, the orchestra will perform the Overture for Peace<\/strong><\/em>. Commemorating the Treaty of Karlowitz, musicians will send a unique message to Europe and the world on 16 July at 8:22 p.m.<\/strong><\/em> in the Creative District. In the same place from 10 p.m<\/strong>, right after the Overture for Peace, we will listen to the Piano Trinity<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, three of the best pianists in the region. Matija Dedi\u0107<\/strong>, Vasil Had\u017eimanov<\/strong> and Bojan Zulfikarpa\u0161i\u0107<\/strong> will show their jazz skills together in the European Capital of Culture, and the audience will enjoy the combination of jazz improvisations and Balkan melodies that convey the importance of intercultural dialogue, understanding and reconciliation. On the same day, 16 July, at the Svilara Cultural Station from 8 p.m., we will listen to the Youth Symphony Orchestra from Bremen<\/a><\/strong>, which, on the way to its current international summer tour, also visited this year’s European Capital of Culture.<\/p>\n

Premiere of the First Historical Film about Novi Sad<\/h2>\n

We are sure that an open-air cinema sounds like a good idea for warm nights \u2013 and at the end of this weekend, on Sunday, 17 July, the grand premiere of the first feature film about the history of Novi Sad<\/strong>, called Liberta \u2013 The Birth of A City<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, will be held. The adventure film saga<\/a> about how a group of Serbs and Germans won freedom for their city from Maria Theresa, directed by Gvozden \u0110uri\u0107<\/strong> and \u017danko Tomi\u0107<\/strong>, will show the audience how Petrovaradin \u0160anac became Novi Sad, Neusatz, \u00dajvid\u00e9k and, to this day, remains a centre of multiculturalism. The Petrovaradin Fortress will be a unique setting, symbolic of the beginning of the historical birth of the city, where we will see this great film for the first time. From 9:00 p.m., the grand walk to the projection site starts<\/strong>, starting from the Church of St. George in Petrovaradin and leads to the plateau near the Hotel Leopold<\/em>. During the walk, those gathered will be introduced to the baroque world, where they will be greeted by a choir, opera performances and other attractions as an introduction to the film.<\/p>\n
