The hot summer in Novi Sad is painted by shades of art and numerous current exhibitions that await you in the European Capital of Culture<\/a>, which you may not have had the opportunity to visit until now. So, we invite you to start this week with a dose of culture and visit cultural institutions, alone or with family and friends, and have fun. We will highlight some of the options, and we invite you to regularly follow our website<\/a> calendar in order to stay up to date with all the events in the city.<\/p>\n

The City Centre as the Centre of Current Exhibitions<\/h2>\n

During the hot summer days, make a cultural trek around Novi Sad and embark on the path of culture and art. Visit one of the many exhibitions in the European Capital of Culture<\/strong>. In front of the City Hall<\/strong> in Kralja Aleksandra<\/em> Street, an exhibition of posters of famous Danube women, Danube Women Stories (Podunavci)<\/a><\/strong>, awaits you until 21 August<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And while you’re already in the city centre, take a walk to the Gallery of Matica Srpska<\/a>, where two exhibitions await you \u2013 Parallels<\/a><\/strong>, as well as a collection of paintings by the first lady of Yugoslavia, entitled The Partisan and Fragonard<\/a><\/strong>. Meet Jovanka Broz<\/a>, the \u2018Communist Cinderella\u2019, through a series of paintings from her private collection. During this walk, also visit the exhibition of eco-designer Marija Kozomora<\/strong>, Roots of Nature<\/a>, at 22 Zmaj Jovina Street (Passage)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Don’t miss a walk through one of the most beautiful and at the same time the oldest streets in Novi Sad, Dunavska Street<\/strong>, where the spectacular exhibition of Japanese artists Small Reboots<\/a><\/strong> awaits you at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina<\/a>. While you are there, we suggest you also take a look at the rich archaeological heritage of our country, which you will get to know through the exhibition A Neolithic Night\u2019s Dream<\/a><\/strong>, which brought a large exhibition about the Neolithic to our country after more than half a century, and you can see it in the Museum of Vojvodina<\/a>. This path will also take you to Studio M<\/strong>, an unusual multimedia exhibition about time, chaos, and the cosmos, Time and Universe<\/a><\/strong>, waiting for you until the end of the European Capital of Culture <\/strong>title year.<\/p>\n

As part of The Danube Sea<\/a> programme arch, the Art on the Stream (Podunavci)<\/a> exhibition was opened in the Gallery of Fine Arts \u2013 Gift Collection of Rajko Mamuzi\u0107<\/a>, and it will last until 28 August<\/strong>. This is an exhibition of contemporary artists from the Danube region (Austria, Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria).<\/p>\n

After touting the exhibitions in the city centre, we advise you to dedicate some time, on foot or by bike, to head across the bridge to the Petrovaradin Fortress<\/strong>, where the Circle\u2019s Circle<\/a><\/strong> exhibition awaits you in artists\u2019 studios until 28 August<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And on Your Way to \u0160trand…<\/h2>\n

\u2026take a walk (or a bike ride) to Liman Park<\/strong> and visit the Open-Air Gallery on Suba\u2019s Plateau<\/a>, and see Imaginary Borders<\/a> \u2013 an interesting installation on 49 masts that sways in the summer breeze. The exhibition is divided into three parts and brings together artists, activists, groups, and individuals, to comment together and look back on the thematic framework of the Fortress of Peace programme arch this exhibition is part of.<\/p>\n
