The Kaleidoscope of Culture<\/a> <\/strong>in Novi Sad brings another weekend rich in events for all ages, while this time, we are going to talk about a unique book town. On 17 and 18 September,\u00a0 Booktown at the\u00a0 SPENS <\/strong>brings the most famous figures of literature, as well as theatre plays, children\u2019s operas and staged readings, musical performances, literature discussions and a book fair, which make the event unique in our country and wider.<\/p>\n

The concept of a staged reading, which attracted both children and adults, and what we can confirm from personal experience of the first Vrdnik Festival \u2018Vila\u2019, when we had a chance to hear the celebrated regional actresses and a famous TV host, Anica Dobra<\/strong>, Nata\u0161a Tapu\u0161kovi\u0107<\/strong> and Nata\u0161a Miljkovi\u0107<\/strong>, in a completely unusual atmosphere and in a different light. Following the example, during the Booktown at the <\/strong>SPENS-u<\/b> event, which takes place in the SPENS, we will have a chance to enjoy the undiscovered works of Voja Brajovi\u0107<\/a><\/strong> and Zijah Sokolovi\u0107<\/a><\/strong>, who will read fairy tales to the youngest and most demanding audience, on a stage for children\u2019s programme of the SPENS-u in<\/p>\n

On Saturday 17 September from 5 p.m., legendary Tihi from the TV series \u2018Otpisani\u2019<\/strong> (Eng. The Written Offs) is going to read poetic works of Mika Anti\u0107<\/strong>, Jovan Jovanovi\u0107 Zmaj<\/strong>, Du\u0161ko Radovi\u0107<\/strong>, Brana Crn\u010devi\u0107<\/strong> and other poets who often spoke about topics for adults through children\u2019s verses. Within a one-hour event, Vojislav Voja Brajovi\u0107<\/strong>, the doyen of theatre in Serbia, will surely thrill children and their parents. The programme is adapted for children aged 3-12 years.<\/p>\n

On the second day of the SPENS<\/strong>\u00a0event, on Sunday, 18 September, at 6 p.m.<\/strong>, one of the favourite regional actors, Zijah Sokolovi\u0107<\/strong>, will read fairy tales by the famous author Selma Parisi<\/strong> to children. With a career spanning over fifty years, Sokolovi\u0107 marked the Yugoslav theatrical life and cinematography and that was the reason for selecting the works of one of the multi-talented Croatian artists who herself works in the field of theatre studies, drama-based pedagogy, drama and literature texts and screenplays for all ages.<\/p>\n

Selma\u2019s fairy tales have been awarded multiple times, while Zijah<\/strong> will read the four selected fairy tales \u2013 An Imaginary Violin<\/em>, A Lonely Guitar<\/em> (included in the Croatian language class as part of the \u2018\u0160kola na Tre\u0107em\u2019 on the Croatian Radiotelevision channel), A Girl Who Hugged Clouds<\/em> and The Last Tree<\/em>, a fairy tale that was included in the anthology of original contemporary fairy tale at the international festival \u2018BAJKA 2021\u2019 in North Macedonia last year.<\/p>\n

Although they\u2019ve starred in uncountable films and plays, we haven\u2019t seen them in a role such as this one in the Suburbium. Furthermore, Leontina and the choir \u2018\u010carolija<\/strong>\u2019, and the well-known children\u2019s opera of the \u2018Visoko C<\/em>\u2019 Association will also keep the children entertained.<\/p>\n

For elderly literature fans, the Suburbium will be the epicentre of events since we will have a chance to hear Vedrana Rudan<\/strong>, Vladimir Pi\u0161talo<\/strong>, Slavimir Stojanovi\u0107 Futro<\/strong>, and the famous humourists from Montenegro \u2018The Books of Knjige<\/strong>\u2019, while we will also have a chance to hear about the life and work of the famous Novi Sad author L\u00e1szl\u00f3 V\u00e9gel, whose book \u2018Neoplanta or the Promised Land<\/em>\u2019 is translated into German, and will be promoted during the discussion between V\u00e9gel and Vladislava Gordi\u0107 Petkovi\u0107.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, we can expect the farewell concert by Zoran Predin and the band La\u010dni Franz<\/strong>, the play \u2018\u0160to na podu spava\u0161<\/em>\u2019, based on Darko Cvijeti\u0107<\/strong>\u2019s novel of the same name, and other programmes.<\/p>\n
