A unique exhibition in the European Capital of Culture, Sava \u0160umanovi\u0107 and European Realism Between the Two World Wars<\/a>, which includes the largest number of works by one of the most<\/strong> significant Serbian painters<\/strong>, was opened in the Gallery Square<\/strong>, thus marking the beginning of the Visual Arts Week of the Kaleidoscope of Culture<\/strong>.<\/p>

This comprehensive exhibition of masterpieces of one of the greats of Serbian painting<\/strong>, connected galleries of national importance \u2013 the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection<\/strong> and the Gallery of Matica Srpska<\/strong>, where two exhibitions will be held, and the Rajko Mamuzi\u0107 Gift Collection<\/strong>, as well as the \u2018Sava \u0160umanovi\u0107\u2019 Art Gallery in \u0160id<\/strong>, where the third exhibition will be held.<\/p>

In order to create a complete picture of \u0160umanovi\u0107’s realisms between the two world wars and their relations with contemporary European currents, cooperation was established with museums and institutions from Croatia, North Macedonia and France, whose kindly lent works for exhibition, precious photographs and archival material. In this manner, the public gets an unusual opportunity to get acquainted with 102 works by Sava \u0160umanovi\u0107<\/strong> in one exhibition. The artistic opus of this master of painting represents works from the period between 1919 and 1940.<\/p>

The programme of the opening ceremony in the European Capital of Culture included a multimedia performance by ChoreoChroma<\/strong>, dedicated to the interpretation of the painting Luncheon on the Grass<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

The exhibition will run until 4 December<\/strong>, so we invite you to follow the events on our website and visit one of the accompanying lectures, workshops and professional guidance within the exhibition. One of the professional guidance will be held on 28 September at 5 p.m.<\/strong>, and your guide through the exhibition will be the legendary Uro\u0161 \u0110uri\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>
