Longer daylight hours and better weather ahead of us are ideal for visiting cultural events in the city of culture, and April in Novi Sad brings us colourful activities for all generations – from cultural events, sports events, to concerts and festivals. In order to always be up to date with events in the city, regularly follow the calendar on our website<\/a>. As always, we have suggestions for all ages and tastes, so we invite you to dedicate the following month to art and activities that this city has at every corner.<\/p>\n

Current Exhibitions<\/h2>\n

We are starting the cultural tour this April with art in motion, so our first suggestion is to visit current exhibitions. Take a peek into the secrets of the spousal relationship with the scientific genius Albert Einstein through the multimedia exhibition \u00a0Mileva: We Are One Rock<\/a><\/em><\/strong> at the City Museum of Novi Sad, which is located on the other side of the Danube, at the Petrovaradin Fortress. During a visit to the exhibition, which is open every day except Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/strong>, discover who the mathematician Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein<\/strong> really was, and we give you \u00a0five resons<\/a> to do so. The Gallery Square in the city centre brings us this April two prominent exhibitions worthy of your attention. A new exhibition, A Quite (Un)Usual Serbian-French Connection<\/em><\/strong>, was set in the Gallery of Matica Srpska, and we advise you to follow the schedule of expert guided tours through the exhibition in our calendar, which are usually held on weekends. In addition to this, be sure to visit the new exhibition Spring in the Gallery<\/em><\/strong>, which is open in the Rajko Mamuzi\u0107 Gift Collection<\/em> from Wednesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/strong>, and admission is free. The exhibition will be open until 21 April.<\/p>\n

If you wish to enjoy nature and art at the same time, take a walk to Liman Park, where you will find the Sekvence Grada<\/em><\/strong><\/a> exhibition at Novi Sad’s first open-air gallery on Suba\u2019s Plateau. The exhibition consists of the works by seven artists placed on 49 masts, and prominent local artists include Prof. Mileta Po\u0161ti\u0107.<\/u><\/a><\/strong> We talked to him about the exhibition, so you will have the opportunity to learn about the inspirations and ideas behind these works.<\/p>\n

In the Rhythm of Music<\/h2>\n

The month dedicated to performing arts begins with a concert by pop musician Sergej \u0106etkovi\u0107<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, who will perform on the big stage of Serbian National Theatre on 2 and 3 April from 8 p.m. <\/strong>For a long time, the residents of Novi Sad have not had the chance to enjoy the hits by Partibrejkers<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, who have been on the scene for more than 40 years, and we invite you to be at Dom Kulture on 7 April at 9:30 p.m.<\/strong> The next day we move to Spens, where another famous band from the former Yugoslavia, Bijelo Dugme<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, awaits us. Get ready for an unforgettable evening with their hits on 8 April at 8 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you like the sound of classical guitar, we will take you to the Vojvodina Guitar Fest<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which will be held at the Isidor Baji\u0107 Music School<\/em> and the City Hall<\/em> from 10 to 14 April<\/strong>, while lovers of Japanese culture will enjoy the collision of two incredible worlds, an unusual spectacle called the Anime Symphony<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which will be held on 13 April at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Serbian piano and electronic duo, LP Duo<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which we listened to at the opening of last year’s Kaleidoscope of Culture in the ECoC title year, will hold a concert in Novi Sad. Be with us at the City Concert Hall<\/em> on 21 April at 8 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The very end of April will be marked by the Artan Lili <\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0performance in Dom Kulture on 28 April at 8 p.m<\/strong>., as well as the long-awaited concert of Croatian diva Josipa Lisac<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, who will perform on the occasion of 50 years of album Dnevnik Jedne Ljubavi<\/em> at the Serbian National Theatre<\/a> on 30 April at 8 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Theatre<\/h2>\n

The theatre promises an exciting April in Novi Sad and brings us unforgettable performances. The oldest theatre in the country, the Serbian National Theatre, presents an opera in three acts, Eugene Onegin<\/em><\/strong> (4 and 19 April at 7 p.m.)<\/strong>, which tells an unusual story of love, rivalry and secrets. If you are more into Dostoyevsky, then do not miss the performance of The Gospel according to F.M. Dostoyevsky<\/em><\/strong>, which will be performed on 10, 11 and 13 April at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong> Both plays premiered last month.<\/p>\n

If you like contemporary dance, the Belgrade Dance Festival brings us the world premiere in Novi Sad. It is a ballet from Turin, called Faun<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, and we suggest not to miss this event on 5 April at 8 p.m. <\/strong>The attention of fans of contemporary dance will also be captured by the Nederlands Dans Theater<\/a><\/em>, a ballet ensemble that will perform two shows on 7 April at 8 pm<\/strong>, and on 8 April at 6 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For those who like to face difficult questions, Visit Novi Sad singles out the play In Agony<\/em><\/strong>, based on Krle\u017ea’s work, which will be performed on 13 April at 8:30 p.m.<\/strong>, and the project that was premiered in the ECoC title year, the Mephisto<\/em><\/strong> play, will answer the question of what a person is ready to do (at any cost) for the sake of personal success. Circle 23 April <\/strong>in your calendar, when the play starring Aljo\u0161a \u0110idi\u0107 will be performed at 7 p.m.<\/strong> The very end of the month will mark the premiere of Bertove Ko\u010dije ili Sibila<\/a> play, on 29 April at 7:30 p.m., so we advise you to get your tickets in time.<\/p>\n

For the youngest visitors, the Youth Theatre<\/em> has prepared a series of puppet adventures that will surely delight your little ones, and the repertoire of the Novi Sad Theatre<\/em> will include two premieres this month. It is the \u0110a\u010dka Scena<\/em><\/strong> play, which will take place on 2 April at 7 p.m.<\/strong>, and at the end of the month we are expecting the premiere of Putuju\u0107e Pozori\u0161te \u0160opalovi\u0107<\/em><\/strong> on 29 April at 7 p.m.<\/strong> Get your tickets in time and enjoy the magic of the theatre!<\/p>\n

Night Bazaar<\/h2>\n

The famous Fish Market <\/strong>in the centre of Novi Sad every first Friday of the month turns into a Night Bazaar<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, and this time it will be held on 6 April<\/strong> at 6 p.m. The event attracts a large number of visitors who enjoy local products and unique handicrafts of entrepreneurs from Novi Sad and its surroundings. In addition to local food, deli products, wine and beer, you can also find various souvenirs, clothes and jewellery. Another popular event with a similar content is Fenseraj Ukusa<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which will be held at Detelinarska market<\/strong> on 8 April<\/strong>. Both events are a great opportunity to spice up your April in Novi Sad with plenty of great flavours, but also to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the city. See you at the markets!<\/p>\n

Novi Sad for the Youngest<\/h2>\n

A fun Saturday morning in Novi Sad starts at the Bulevar Books<\/em><\/strong> bookstore, where the youngest audience can enjoy the Readings (\u010citanjac)<\/em>, <\/strong>which starts at 11 a.m.<\/strong> every Saturday, while at the same time creative workshops on Saturdays<\/em><\/strong><\/a> are held in the Gallery of Matica Srpska<\/em><\/strong>. These educational workshops are intended for children aged 5-10 years, and participation is RSD 200, while you can find information about the programme of each workshop and a link to register \u00a0HERE<\/a>. On Sundays, visit Zenit children’s club<\/em><\/strong> at the Zenit Books caf\u00e9-bookstore and take the opportunity to enjoy your favourite coffee while your little ones enjoy fun activities from 11 a.m.<\/strong> These weekend activities are perfect for anyone who wants to spend time with their family and friends.<\/p>\n

Fru\u0161ka Gora Trail<\/h2>\n

We cannot imagine April in Novi Sad without the traditional hiking marathon on Fru\u0161ka Gora, which will take place on 22 and 23 April<\/strong>. The start of the first day of the marathon will be in Popovica, and the trails stretch through the hilly forest of Fru\u0161ka Gora (you can find the map HERE<\/a>). The marathon contains a total of 15 tracks, of different lengths and different height differences. The sports and recreational event gathers tens of thousands of people from the country and abroad every year. Be a part of this international event of nature, culture and sports and register via the link<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Easter Promenade<\/h2>\n

Let us wake up nature and celebrate the most joyous Christian holiday with the Easter Promenade<\/strong><\/a> on the plateau in front of the SC Promenada, which will last from 3 to 17 April<\/strong>. Flower installations and colourful eggs, interesting cultural and musical programme await us, while the youngest visitors will be able to enjoy creative workshops. In authentic wooden houses, which exude the spirit of tradition, handicrafts and souvenirs will be sold, as well as a wide range of delicious treats.<\/p>\n
