Seize the pleasant autumn weather and fill up this November in Novi Sad with cultural events throughout the city. Indulge yourself in quality art, which is not lacking in the capital of culture, and we bring you the best that Novi Sad has to offer. As always, we have suggestions for all ages and tastes, so we invite you in advance to circle some of these dates in your calendars.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Current Exhibitions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Visual art is omnipresent in the city that lives culture this month, so we strongly recommend that you take the time to visit the current exhibitions by yourself, with friends or family. Head from Limanski Park towards the District, a former industrial district that, thanks to the title of European Capital of Culture, has been transformed into a new and emerging center of culture. A sculpture dedicated to one of its most innovative artists, Mitar Subotic Suba<\/strong>, will be unveiled in Limanski Park on November 6 at 11 a.m. on the Suba Plateau.<\/strong> In this way, Novi Sad, which recently found itself on the prestigious UNESCO list in the category of digital and new media, will get another modern sculpture dedicated to a top artist, also a UNESCO award winner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then head to the District, where you will be greeted by the permanent exhibition Spirit of the Place – the first century of the District,<\/a><\/strong><\/em> authored by Ph.D. Monika Bilbija Ponjavi\u0107 and Nemanja Milenkovi\u0107<\/strong>, and represents the turbulent hundred-year history of the former industrial complex. You can visit it in Fabrika 2, every day (except Monday and Tuesday) from 4 to 8 p.m. In the District this month, you can also visit the exhibition Sharing, by Japanese artists Terunuma Acuro and Jinko Suzuki, which is being realized by the Bel Art Gallery in Novi Sad until November 22. If you take the quay from the District to the Varadin bridge, you can decide there whether to first turn towards the bridge and climb up to the Petrovaradin fortress and visit the exceptional multimedia exhibition Mileva: we are a rock<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>in the Museum of the City of Novi Sad, or continue your art journey towards the center first. where other great exhibitions await you. Take a look at the Bel Art Gallery and get acquainted with the works of six artists – Katalin Ladik, Balint Sombati, Milorad Krsti\u0107, Bela Marija\u0161, I\u0161tvan Balind, Andra\u0161 \u0160ifli\u0161, through the exhibition Art without Borders<\/strong><\/em>, until November 12, and at the same place until November 24 finds and installation of Kristina Pirkovi\u0107’s drawing The Creation of Man.<\/span><\/p>\n

Continue towards the Gallery of Matica Srpska and visit two significant exhibitions for Novi Sad. The first exhibition is \u00a0Pomori\u0161ac – Vasa Pomori\u0161ac<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, and it is dedicated to the artist who managed to present classical art through the modern perspective. During November, expert guidance will also be implemented on weekends at 1 p.m. Another exhibition worth your attention is Paja Jovanovi\u0107 and Gustav Klimt. One Epoch, Two Artists, Three Museums<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which presents three female portraits from three museums: Gallery of Matica Srpska, Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and Belvedere Gallery. Curatorial tours are implemented on weekends at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

In the Theatre<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The theatre scene in Novi Sad offers great performances for all generations this month. In the oldest theatre in Serbia, the Serbian National Theatre, we recommend you to watch the play I Even Met Happy Gypsies<\/strong><\/em>, which will premiere on 8 November, and will be performed this month several times (see the complete repertoire)<\/a>. Another premiere that will delight opera lovers will take place on 16 November, and it is La Traviata<\/strong><\/em>, which will also be repeated in two more dates.<\/p>\n

This month, the Youth Theatre brings numerous performances for the youngest, so we advise you to take the little ones to the plays Pinocchio, Fairy Tale about Knight without a Horse or Coraline, and our recommendation for adults is the play The \u010cita\u010d,<\/strong><\/em> based on the book of the same name, which will be performed on 5 November, then the comic monodrama Kakva Ti Je \u017dena, Takav<\/em> Ti Je \u017divot,<\/strong> then House<\/strong>,<\/strong><\/em> directed by Voja Brajovi\u0107, which you can see on 12 November, but also No\u0107 Bogova on 23 November. The month ahead in the Novi Sad theatres brings us two performances of the play Captain Nemo, based on the novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which will take place on 25 and 26 November and our recommendation for the end of the month is the play Neoplanta, based on the novel of the same name by V\u00e9gel L\u00e1szl\u00f3. In the NIS building in Liman, you can see the play Memories of Sarah Bernhardt<\/strong> <\/em>\u00a0on 24 November at 8 p.m., in which Tanja Bo\u0161kovi\u0107 plays the main role. This month, do not miss the hilarious comedy musical Merry Girls<\/strong> <\/em>\u00a0at the Novi Sad Fair on 23 November.<\/p>\n

Music as Universal Language<\/strong><\/h2>\n

November brings us great parties and performances by famous performers, so do not miss another Jugoslovenka party<\/strong>, which will take place in Dom Kulture on 3 November at 9 p.m. Just one day later, on 4 November, a similar event Kluboslavija<\/strong> awaits you at the same place, so you will have the opportunity to listen to ex-Yu hits for two evenings. Hip-hop fans will be entertained by Smoke Mardeljano & Ajs Nigrutin<\/strong> in Hall 2 of the Novi Sad Fair on 10 November at 9 p.m., so we recommend that you get your tickets in time. One of the biggest stars of the world music scene, Yasmin Levy<\/strong>, will perform at the Serbian National Theatre on 12 November at 8 p.m., and at the same time, a concert by the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra<\/strong><\/em> will be held in the Synagogue, conducted by Aleksandar Markovi\u0107. The following day, 13 November, SCCNS Fabrika in the District will host stoner\/doom band Tortuga and psychedelic stoner\/space rock band Maha Sohona<\/strong>, who will perform together at 9 p.m. Just three days later, on 16 November at 9 p.m., at the same place in the District, the Greek band Godsleep,<\/strong><\/em> one of the most popular performers of the regional pop music scene, will perform. Tony<\/em><\/strong> Cetinski<\/strong><\/em> will hold a concert in front of the Novi Sad audience in the large hall of Spens on 17 November, so hurry up to get your tickets.<\/p>\n

Fans of rock music will enjoy the Rock<\/strong><\/em> Marathon<\/strong><\/em> on 18 November, also at Spens, and the music spectacle will last as long as six hours. Towards the end of the month, after a year of the ECoC title, the iconic Slovenian band \u00a0Laibach<\/strong><\/em> is coming to Novi Sad again, which will perform in the Serbian National Theatre on 28 November. This time, they come as part of the European tour called Love is Still Alive<\/em>, where they present the project of the same name.<\/p>\n

Danica<\/strong> Crnogor\u010devi\u0107,<\/strong><\/em> a popular artist and singer of spiritual and ethno music in the region, will hold two concerts in Novi Sad in the Serbian National Theatre on 29 and 30 November. The very end of the month will be marked by the performance of Nikola Vranjkovi\u0107 <\/strong><\/em>at the Youth Theatre on 30 November at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

Novi Sad for the Youngest<\/strong><\/h2>\n

November in Novi Sad is full of surprises even for the youngest audience, so take the children to some of the events that will capture their attention, but also educate them. Let your little ones indulge their imaginations in the world of fantastic stories at the Bulevar Books bookstore, where the youngest audience can enjoy \u010citanjac<\/em><\/strong>, which starts at 11 a.m. every Saturday, while at the same time creative workshops<\/strong> are held in the Gallery of Matica Srpska<\/strong>. On Sundays, visit Zenit children’s club <\/strong>at the Zenit Books caf\u00e9-bookstore and take the opportunity to enjoy your favourite coffee while your little ones enjoy fun activities from 11 a.m. These weekend activities are perfect for anyone who wants to spend time with their family and friends.<\/p>\n

The youngest can see performances for children in the Youth Theatre, as well as in Teatrilo<\/a>, and on Sundays, Pozori\u0161te iz Kofera<\/a> performs in the Spens amphitheatre. This month, you can watch the Magic Comedy,<\/strong><\/em> a magician’s show for the youngest, in the NIS building on 4 November at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

Festivals in November<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Although we often associate festivals with the summer months, we have to mention several excellent autumn ones that will take place in the capital of art this November. Do not miss the current Upad Theatre Festival,<\/strong> <\/em>which brings us several excellent performances until 5 November. In the meantime, on 3 and 4 November, the Novi Sad Beer Days <\/strong><\/em>await us, which will be enjoyed by fans of this beverage. World music festival Pocket Globe,<\/strong><\/em> which was held in Novi Sad last year as part of the ECoC title, will now take place in the District from 9 to 11 November, so do not miss hearing some of the great music names. Do you like jazz? The fact that the \u00a0Novi Sad Jazz Festival<\/strong><\/em> will take place from 15 to 18 November at the Youth Theatre will certainly make you happy. Eight top concerts await the audience, so the festival is also our warm recommendation. In the middle of the month, another To Be Punk Festival <\/strong><\/em>(on 17 and 18 November) awaits us at Fabrika in the District, which revives the punk scene from the region and the world, so if you are a fan of this music genre, do not miss the two-day festival.<\/p>\n

Bazaar \u2013 An Opportunity for a Good Shopping<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Fish Market in the centre of Novi Sad every first Friday of the month turns into a Night Bazaar<\/em><\/strong> of handicrafts and local producers from the surrounding settlements. Thus, on 3 November from 6 p.m.<\/strong>, a real spectacle of irresistible tastes and scents that intertwine in the air awaits us, while we enjoy the music programme and unique clothing, jewellery, home decorations, etc. If you like this type of events, do not miss the \u00a0Fenseraj Ukusa<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>at Detelinara Market\u00a0on 11 November at 6 p.m. <\/strong>Only day later, in Fabrika in the District, a similar event called Market on Sundays <\/strong><\/em>awaits us from 11 a.m until 5 p.m. Startup Night Bazaar<\/em><\/strong> is proof that there is no shortage of these kind of events in Novi Sad. It will take place at the Fish Market on 17 November at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
