Through the programmes of the European Capital of Culture held in the renewed District, one of the most vibrant centres of contemporary creativity in this part of Europe, the city pays tribute to renowned Novi Sad artists \u2013 Aleksandar Ti\u0161ma, Mitar Suboti\u0107 Suba, and \u017delimir \u017dilnik. With new media exhibitions dedicated to Suba, programmes like <\/span><\/b>The Use of Man<\/span><\/i><\/b> and <\/span><\/b>The Darkest Wave<\/span><\/i><\/b>, as well as the multimedia installation<\/span><\/b> Spirit ofPlace \u2013 A Century of the District<\/span><\/i><\/b>, presented within the Kaleidoscope of Culture, Novi Sad proudly reaffirms its title as a UNESCO Creative City.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Although the District is still undergoing transformation, it stands as an important legacy of the European Capital of Culture, having hosted numerous artists and celebrated many great figures. One of these is <\/span>Mitar Suboti\u0107 Suba<\/span><\/b>, a pioneer of electronic music, whose artistic achievements were showcased in an exhibition during the ECoC title year. Today, Novi Sad preserves the memory of this remarkable artist through a sculpture in his honor, placed at the entrance to Limanski Park, near the District.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Culture continues to thrive in this \u2019art production\u2019 quarter, which has become synonymous with the Kaleidoscope of Culture. Now in its seventh edition, the festival offers visitors the chance to explore the cultural heritage and artistic worlds of these luminaries through various exhibitions and programmes. These events invite reflection, encourage us to raise new questions, and inspire us to form our own image of culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

One such exhibition is <\/span>The Use of Man<\/span><\/i><\/b>, opened during the Applied Arts Week of the Kaleidoscope of Culture. Inspired by <\/span>Aleksandar Ti\u0161ma<\/span><\/b>\u2019s novel of the same name, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the nature of war, asking fundamental questions such as whether we even have a choice in war. The exhibition is open to visitors from Wednesday to Sunday, with two viewing sessions \u2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Another<\/span> significant<\/span> exhibition<\/span>, <\/span><\/span>The<\/span> Darkest<\/span> Wave<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em>, <\/span>which<\/span> concluded<\/span> this<\/span> year\u2019s<\/span> Kaleidoscope<\/span> of<\/span> Culture<\/span>, <\/span>continues<\/span> to <\/span>attract<\/span> a<\/span>ttention<\/span>. <\/span>It<\/span> explores<\/span> key<\/span> topics<\/span> and<\/span> aesthetics<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> Black<\/span> Wave<\/span>, one <\/span>of<\/span> the<\/span> most <\/span>controversial<\/span> movements<\/span> in <\/span>Yugoslav<\/span> cinema<\/span>. <\/span>This<\/span> tribute <\/span>honors<\/span> not<\/span> only<\/span> <\/span>\u017delimir <\/span>\u017dilnik<\/span><\/span>, a <\/span>living<\/span> legend<\/span> of<\/span> Yugoslav<\/span> film, but <\/span>also<\/span> the<\/span> many<\/span> pioneers<\/span> of<\/span> this<\/span> movement<\/span> who<\/span> dared<\/span> to <\/span>think<\/span> and<\/span> create<\/span> differently<\/span>, <\/span>despite<\/span> threats<\/span>, <\/span>bans<\/span>, <\/span>and<\/span> punishments<\/span>. <\/span>Curated<\/span> by<\/span> Monika <\/span>Bilbija<\/span> Ponjavi\u0107, <\/span>PhD<\/span>, <\/span>the<\/span> exhibition<\/span> combines<\/span> artistic<\/span> interpretations<\/span> and<\/span> archival<\/span> material<\/span> to <\/span>create<\/span> a <\/span>space<\/span> for<\/span> reflection<\/span> and<\/span> recognition<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> courage<\/span> of<\/span> those<\/span> who<\/span> pu<\/span>shed<\/span> boundaries<\/span>. <\/span>It<\/span> runs<\/span> until<\/span> 19 <\/span>October<\/span>, <\/span>across<\/span> several<\/span> District<\/span> venues<\/span>: Radionica, Biro, <\/span>and<\/span> Menza<\/span>, from <\/span>Wednesday<\/span> to <\/span>Sunday<\/span>, 4 <\/span>p.m<\/span>. to 8p.m<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
