The final preparations for the creation of the monumental sculpture <\/span><\/b>Cloud<\/span><\/i><\/b> are underway! The sculpture, based on the sculptural-architectural design by Branislav Nikoli\u0107, will soon shine in the District, situated between the buildings Menza, \u010celi\u010dana, and Radionica.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The conceptual design <\/span>Cloud<\/span><\/i> by Branislav Nikoli\u0107 was selected last year as the best entry in the sculptural-architectural competition held as part of the urban development plan for the Novi Sad District. The competition was launched on the initiative of the \u2019Novi Sad \u2013 European Capital of Culture\u2019 Foundation and the Centre for Fine and Applied Arts TERRA.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The concept was required to embrace the spatial and historical context of the District, reflecting its century-old industrial heritage, as well as its future role as a new hub for creative industries, brought to life through the revitalization project within the European Capital of Culture framework.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nikoli\u0107\u2019s<\/span> <\/span>Cloud<\/span><\/span> serves<\/span> as a <\/span>thoughtful<\/span> and<\/span> organic<\/span> extension<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> new<\/span> concept<\/span> for<\/span> revitalizing<\/span> the<\/span> District<\/span>. <\/span>Designed<\/span> as a <\/span>factory<\/span> chimney<\/span> with<\/span> smoke <\/span>billowing<\/span> from <\/span>it<\/span>, <\/span>the<\/span> sculpture<\/span> immerses<\/span> visitors<\/span> in <\/span>the<\/span> industrial<\/span> history<\/span> of<\/span> this<\/span> area, <\/span>marked<\/span> by<\/span> the<\/span> rapid <\/span>industrialization<\/span> of<\/span> Novi Sad in <\/span>the<\/span> early<\/span> 20<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span> century<\/span>. <\/span>Its<\/span> minimalist <\/span>form<\/span> communicates<\/span> clearly<\/span> with<\/span> the<\/span> heritage<\/span> it<\/span> represents<\/span>, <\/span>attracting<\/span> attention<\/span> and<\/span> inviting<\/span> dialogue<\/span>. <\/span>Built<\/span> from a <\/span>combination<\/span> of<\/span> terracotta<\/span> and<\/span> steel<\/span>, <\/span><\/span>Cloud<\/span><\/span> will<\/span> document<\/span> the<\/span> history<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> District<\/span>, <\/span>linking<\/span> the<\/span> past<\/span> with<\/span> the<\/span> present<\/span>. <\/span>The<\/span> two<\/span> dominant<\/span> materials<\/span>\u2014<\/span>terracotta<\/span> and<\/span> steel<\/span>\u2014<\/span>played<\/span> a <\/span>key<\/span> role in <\/span>the<\/span> city\u2019s<\/span> development<\/span>, <\/span>reflecting<\/span> its<\/span> continuous<\/span> progress<\/span> over<\/span> the<\/span> decades<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This monumental sculpture will become a meeting point between past and future, where the industrial heritage of Novi Sad finds new life in the heart of the District.
