Since 1993, when it was first formed, the \u2018Viva Dance\u2019 dance studio has been a place where many Novi Sad youngsters learned about the beauty and diversity of dance expression, had their first dance steps and won trophies and medals in big dance competitions. The I am Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein<\/em> musical, which attracted great attention of the public, was produced in dance halls of the Viva Dance studio, thanks to the famous Novi Sad choreographer Gordana Ore\u0161\u010danin.<\/strong>

Gordana Ore\u0161\u010danin has been praised for her work on musicals about significant historical figures. In light of new performances of the I am Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein<\/em> musical in the Serbian National Theatre on 13 and 14 February, we talked with Gordana about her impressive career, pedagogical work, creative process, but about Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein and how she was inspired by her as well.<\/p>\n

I Am Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein<\/em>, produced by your dance club Viva Dance, attracted great attention of the public. How did you come up with the idea for this play?<\/strong>
\n– I plan way ahead every new portrayal of an important historical figure in the format of a musical (for instance, I already know what we\u2019re going to do in 2022) and I try to stage a new musical each year. I try anew to convince the audience and the public that Mileva is an important figure for everyone\u2019s general knowledge, and not just for me, even though it\u2019s always about someone that either changed my life or made me think about life and the way the world functions. After our musical about Isadora Duncan, who hasn\u2019t been heard of by many people before, we can proudly say we made a change in our society by sharing her life and work with the broader public. Consequently, no one was left untouched after watching the play and no one is indifferent at the mention of her name today. That was my goal. After such great success, it was difficult to do anything else because I knew people would always compare the new musical with the previous one. I often talk about my work with different artists and some dear people from various fields in culture. One such conversation with the director of the Gallery of Matica Srpska, Tijana Palkovljevi\u0107, initially helped us think of Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein as the right person for our next musical. Because of this, we both like to say this musical about Mileva is her \u2018godchild.\u2019<\/p>\n

This play probably carried huge responsibility, given this was a woman whose life and work are still deemed mysterious and intriguing. What was your vision of Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein for this play? What was the essence you wanted to convey?<\/strong>
\n– I always, consciously and on purpose, choose people whose lives are deemed \u2019mysterious and intriguing,\u2019 so the responsibility is always there and it\u2019s not that difficult anymore. If you\u2019re interested in how I portrayed Mileva, watch the play and you\u2019ll get to see my truly straightforward attitude and the message I wanted to communicate, the same one Marie Curie told Mileva \u2018You and I aren\u2019t different at all, we just made different choices.\u2019<\/p>\n
