What is a person willing to do for the sake of success and is there an ethical line that we must not cross while achieving our career? Do we recognize the moment when we begin to lose our humanity in the rat race? The Novi Sad audience got the answer to these questions last night by watching the premiere of the Mephisto play, which was performed on the stage of the Serbian National Theatre as part of the Fortress of Peace programme arch, and directed by the renowned Haris Pašović.
The four-hour play, in which as many as 40 actors played on the stage of the oldest Serbian theatre, was based on the novel of the same name by the German writer Klaus Mann, and brought together the greats of Serbian theatre – Mirjana Karanović, Miodrag Krivokapić, Gordana Đurđević Dimić, as well as a large ensemble of young actors and actress, led by the main actor, Aljoša Đidić.
