Applied Arts Week Brings 10 Exhibitions to the District!

The seventh Kaleidoscope of Culture, the most significant regional art gathering and the best European Trend Brand, will once again gather world stars, giants of Serbian culture, rising young creators, and the independent art scene from 5 September to 5 October 2024. Following the grand opening at Korzo, the programme will unfold over five weeks and encompass five types of art, starting with Applied Arts Week from 6 to 12 September. This week will be filled with a rich and diverse programme, with a special experience for visitors featuring 10 unique exhibitions in the heart of the District.

The exhibitions will be held at various locations in the District, and admission is free of charge.

Exhibition Programme:

  • The World of Pavel Surovy: Mira Brtka – This new media exhibition at SCCNS Fabrika explores artistic dimensions through the works of Pavel Surovy and Mira Brtka, providing deep insights into contemporary art and creative approaches.
  • Pearl Tiaras KEY by J. Nikadimus – The exhibition of traditional Russian tiaras in Radionica presents the work of Johan Nikadimus, one of the most prominent Russian applied artists who has exhibited at the Cartier exhibition, offering visitors insight into sophisticated techniques and artistic vision.
  • Object of Nostalgia – The exhibition in Skladište explores emotional connections and memories through collectible artistic objects that evoke a sense of nostalgia and sentimentality.
  • Drawing as Thought – In Radionica, the exhibition explores the process of creative thinking through drawing, showing how thoughts and ideas transform into visual forms.
  • Warehouse of Memories – The exhibition in Radionica provides insight into the visualization of memories, using artistic works to portray how memories are preserved and expressed.
  • Production In(finite) (Atelje 61) – Exhibits 22 tapestry works from its collection that draw on Yugoslav and Serbian modernism.
  • Exhibition and Fashion Show: ‘Ours, Similar, Ecological’ – This combination of exhibition and fashion show at YCS OPENS explores ecological fashion and sustainability through innovative and creative design approaches.
  • Exhibition: Smic. Moving Form – Body Relations – Held outdoors in the District, the exhibition explores the dynamics and interaction of the body through innovative artistic approaches and forms, creating an interactive experience for visitors.
  • Classic Car Exhibition – Provides insight into the history and development of automobiles through the exhibition of classic models, highlighting their design and significance in car culture.
  • Open-Air Gallery – The exhibition, which will have items available for purchase, will showcase applied arts from workshops of noteworthy brands.

Bonus: Permanent Exhibition ‘Spirit of Place – A Century of the District’ – The exhibition in the Fabrika 2 building, opened at last year’s Kaleidoscope of Culture, can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It explores the history of the District and its cultural evolution.
