February in Novi Sad: Events Not To Miss this Month

The ideal way to warm up these cold, winter days in the city of culture this February is to spice them up with art. Get to know Novi Sad all over again, and in order to always be up to date with the happenings in the city, regularly follow our calendar on the website. As always, we have suggestions for all ages and tastes, so we invite you to dedicate this February in Novi Sad to art, which is at every turn in the city.

A Weekend Marked by Open Doors

The first weekend of this month is reserved for Days of Open Doors. The Tourist Organization of the City of Novi Sad, together with cultural institutions, on the occasion of the City Day, implements open doors on 4 and 5 February, when all interested citizens of Novi Sad and their guests will be able to see exhibitions such as Mileva : We Are One Rock, Tambura Tradition in Vojvodina, as well as permanent exhibitions of numerous institution of culture completely free of charge.

Until 12 February, you have the opportunity to visit the Uroš Predić for Everyone exhibition at the Gallery of Matica Srpska, which we highly recommend. Find out what time professional guided tours through the numerous exhibitions are scheduled by clicking on THE LINK.

Take a walk to Liman Park, where the Chinese Festival of Lights awaits you until 5 February, and at the same time see the new exhibition – Sekvence Grada on the masts on the Suba’s Plateau.

Get to Know Novi Sad

The ideal way to peek into the secrets of Novi Sad and discover its interesting corners is to take a walk around the city. You will learn all the lesser-known stories about the old city core and the Petrovaradin Fortress through organized free tourist tours accompanied by a guide.

Tourist tours around the city centre will be in Serbian, and will be held on 4 February at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., while tours of the Petrovaradin Fortress will be held at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, 5 February, city centre tours are at 10 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., while tours of the Petrovaradin Fortress will be held at 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

In the Theatre

February in Novi Sad is also ideal for visiting one of the great plays from the repertoire of our three theatres. In the oldest Serbian theatre, the Serbian National Theatre, this month we are highlighting Đurologija, a hit play by Branko Đurić – Đura, which awaits us on 5 February at 8 p.m. Državni posao – velika seoba arhivatora, with the legendary archivists Čvarkov, Boškić and Torbica is on 19 February at 8 p.m. on the big stage of the Serbian National Theatre, and if you wish to go to the show with some pre-knowledge, do not miss reading their interesting interview on our website. The visit of the Belgrade Theatre Boško Buha takes us back to the 1930s with the Murder on the Orient Express play, based on the book by the legendary Agatha Christie, which will take place at the Serbian National Theatre on 20 February at 8 p.m. We advise you to get your tickets on time. In February, the Serbian National Theatre brings us a Gala concert on the day of love, on 14 February at 7 p.m.

Državni posao – velika seoba arhivatora

If you did not manage to see the Gulliver’s Travels play, which was directed by Kokan Maldenović and played within the ECoC – Fairy Tales of the Future programme, visit the Youth Theatre on 19 February at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and see a great show that will also attract the attention of the little ones because of the giant four-metre-high guignol puppet.

Another play by the same director, which we recommend you see on 8 February at 7:30 p.m. on the big stage of the Youth Theatre, is Children of the Clockwork Orange. Do  not miss the play coming to Novi Sad from Teatar na BrduŠećer Je Sitan Osim Kad Je Kocka. The hilarious comedy starring Aleksandra Tomić, Andrija Milošević, Viktor Savić and Sloboda Mićalović will make you laugh to tears, and these great actors will perform it on 21 and 26 February at 7:30 p.m. on the big stage of the Youth Theatre. The repertoire of the Novi Sad Theatre brings us excellent performances this month as well, including Nevidljiva Deca (7 February at 7 p.m.), Richard III (13 February at 7 p.m.), Roman Nikolić’s original project – Antigone (28 February at 7 p.m.) and others.

The well-known actor Nikola Đurićko will perform his stand-up show SHOWBIZ at the small hall of Spens on 10 February at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at GigsTix ticket offices or online.

In the Rhythm of Music

February in Novi Sad cannot go without great music, so we advise you to visit the performance by the  Six Pack  band that will hold a concert  in Guerila bar on 4 February at 10 p.m. You can get tickets for the concert at the price of RSD 800 at the Gigstix ticket offices and online. At the entrance to the club, if there are any left, tickets will cost RSD 1,000. SCCNS Fabrika in the District will gather fans of the Deaf Radio band, which will perform on 10 February at 9 p.m. You can buy tickets here. Z++ is one of the most promising names on the Croatian music scene, and now he is coming to the Novi Sad Fair, where he will perform in Hall 2 on 11 February at 9 p.m. SKCNS Fabrika will also host a Russian post-punk band Ploho, which will perform on 16 February at 9 p.m. The scent and rhythm of the sea are brought to the Dom Kulture by Neno Belan i Fiumensi, who will hold a concert on 17 February at 7 p.m. The following day, 18 February, at the Novi Sad Fair, the 2000 late event awaits us from 10 p.m., while we recommend that you celebrate 40 years of the Psihomodo Pop band at Dom Kulture on 24 February at 8 p.m.

Wine fest

Let us warm up February in Novi Sad with a glass of excellent wine! Visit the Wine Fest on 25 February at the Sheraton Hotel and get to know the wines of the 40 best wineries in Serbia, as well as five wineries in the region. You can buy tickets for the event at the entrance of the hotel on the day of the festival at a price of RSD 1,500, as well as in advance through the GigsTix sales network and online.
