If you go to Trčika, you’ll have a view of the magnificent building next to the Pariski Magazin. The Menrath Palace was built in 1908 and designed by Lipót Baumhorn, who designed the Novi Sad Synagogue as well.

This ‘modest’ house was built for the famous Novi Sad merchant Josef Menrath, whose family used to run an exclusive furniture store downstairs.

The two-storey house was built in the shape of the Cyrillic letter Š, the street-side façade is of sculptural looks and has balconies with iron fences, and a small atrium backyard too.

Mortar plastic in the shape of masks, of various friezes and ornaments, gives this house a vivid look, thus making you wish you lived there for at least a day. Today, the Menrath Palace is under the city’s protection and is part of the cultural monuments of Novi Sad.
