Exhibition: Between Dream and Reality – Troy and I

When? From 3 to 23 April

The memorial exhibition Between Dream and Reality – Troy and I by the famous artist Jan Husarik is open in CS Svilara from 3 to 23 April, and represents not only an exquisite work of art, but also a story about the thirst for love and the discovery of an ancient city in the Banat plain. During the exhibition, you will have the opportunity to see large-format works from two cycles (Thirst and Troy), as well as to learn more about the life and work of the artist. Conversation  Novi Sad: Literary or Quite Ordinary City?  

When? 12 April at 7 p.m.

Find out if Novi Sad is literary or quite ordinary city in the Svilara Cultural Station on 12 April at 7 p.m., when the famous Novi Sad writer Zoran Đerić will join us. In a conversation with world literature professor Vladimir Gvozden, the guest of the cultural station will reveal to us whether Novi Sad is still a ‘happy country’ and where we are today with education and culture. Do not miss the opportunity to take a deeper look at Novi Sad, get inspired and encourage thinking.

Exhibition: Planet of Love

When? From 24 April to 3 May

The Svilara Cultural Station becomes the new Planet of Love and a venue for the retrospective exhibition of the same name by the young Novi Sad artist Sonja Boruš, who will present her work to the public from 24 April to 3 May. At the opening, visitors will have the opportunity to hear two songs dedicated to the Svilara Cultural Station and the Almaš neighbourhood, performed by singer-songwriter Aljoša Boruš.

Sonja’s artistic expression is primarily focused on burlesque and love, symbolized by lips. With its decorative expression, she impressively emphasizes that we must not forget love, regardless of the complexity of our lives. The exhibition will feature the works of our fellow citizen, which express messages of lust and body language. Get to know the works of the Novi Sad artist, who, together with her brother Aljoša, is a frequent guest at almost all artistic events throughout the city.

Exhibition: The Color of the Soul

When? From 31 March to 3 May

Continue your tour of the exhibitions in CS Mlin, where you will find The Color of the Soul exhibition that includes the works of children and young people with autism on the occasion of the World Autism Awareness Day. The exhibition shows the works of 22 authors aged between 9 and 32, which were created at a painting workshop implemented by the Society for the Support of Persons with Autism in the City of Novi Sad. Visitors have the opportunity to get to know the works made with acrylic paints on canvas, in cheerful colours. The exhibition gives us the opportunity to get acquainted with the creative expression of autistic people, and accept them as equal members of the community. You can see exhibition every working day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Književna Barka: Slađana Nina Perković

When? 19 April at 7 p.m.

This April, visit another Književna Barka in the cultural station on the outskirts of the city, where you can expect a conversation between Bojan Krivokapić and his guest Slađana Nina Perković, the author of the story collection Cooking and the novel U Jarku, which received special recognition from the jury of the European Prize for Literature 2022.

Književna Barka is a monthly literary programme of the Barka Cultural Station that presents the most important names of post-Yugoslav literature to the audience in a pleasant and informal atmosphere. Do not miss it!

Life in the Forest Book Promotion

When? 27 April at 6 p.m.

For the end of the month, we take you to an inspiring book promotion by Nikola Borić, which talks about coexistence with nature and is intended for people who strive for a simpler and more harmonious way of life. Visit the Egység Cultural Station on 27 April at 6 p.m., when he will present his book Life in the Forest. Nikola has won several awards for his work, including the prestigious National Geographic Award for his self-sustaining homestead, and the book answers the question of what drives people like him to migrate from the concrete jungle to the true, natural rainforest and live in harmonious symbiosis with the world around themselves. The famous British travel writer Ben Fogle made a documentary about Nikola for BBC Earth, and foreign media invited the public to get acquainted with his work. This is your chance to meet the bestselling author, who inspires people to live in harmony with nature.
